Extract Source
Phellodendron bark extract is extracted from the dried bark of the Rutaceae plant Phellodendron or Phellodendron barbarum. After peeling the bark, remove the rough bark and dry it in the sun.
Phellodendron is also known as cork, Yuanbai, barberry wood, and barberry bark. Its main component is berberine.
Used as a bittering agent. It has antimicrobial and protozoal, antihypertensive, anti-adrenergic effects, relaxes vascular smooth muscle, stimulates the uterus, bladder, bronchus, gastrointestinal tract, choleretic and stimulates the cerebral cortex.
