Cassia seed has the functions of clearing liver fire, dispelling wind dampness, tonifying kidney and improving eyesight. Drinking Cassia seed tea regularly can make blood pressure normal, defecate unobstructed and old eyes dull. Clinical experiments have proved that drinking cassia seed tea can clear the liver and brighten the eyes, prevent blurred vision, lower blood pressure, lower blood lipids, reduce cholesterol, etc. It has a good effect on the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease and hypertension; And cassia seed is rich in vitamin A and zinc, which can prevent night blindness and avoid zinc deficiency in children.
Pharmacological Function
1. Antibacterial effect:
The alcohol extract of cassia seed has an inhibitory effect on staphylococcus, diphtheria, typhoid bacillus, paratyphoid bacillus and Escherichia coli, while the water extract has no effect.
2. Antifungal: The water extract is diluted in test tubes, and 1:20 has an inhibitory effect on Microsporum auduorum, and 1:10 has an inhibitory effect on Tinea versicolor and Microsporum gypsum.
3. Hypotension: Both water extract and ethanol extract have hypotensive effect on anesthetized dogs, cats and rabbits.
4. Lowering blood lipid: The cassia seed decoction or cassia seed powder 6g is fed to rats for 8 weeks, which can reduce the plasma cholesterol, triglyceride and the content of triglyceride in the liver of experimental hyperlipidemia rats.
5. Anti platelet aggregation: Cassia seed decoction or powder 6g/kg was fed to rats for 8 weeks, which inhibited platelet aggregation induced by ADP in rats.
6. Influence on immune function: 15g/kg subcutaneous injection of cassia seed decoction and alcohol precipitant can atrophy the thymus of mice, significantly reduce the ANAE staining negative rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes, inhibit the delayed type hypersensitivity reaction of mice skin induced by 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB), but has no significant effect on the formation of serum hemolysin. In addition, cassia seed decoction and alcohol precipitant can significantly increase the percentage and phagocytic index of chicken erythrocytes engulfed by peritoneal macrophages of mice, The lysozyme level was also significantly higher than that of the control group.
7. Liver protective effect The hot water extract of Semen Cassiae has a weak detoxification effect on the liver of mice poisoned by carbon tetrachloride after oral administration of 670 mg/kg. Cassia seed was degreased with petroleum ether, extracted with chloroform, and then extracted with methanol. The results showed that the methanol extract had significant liver protection effect. It was further obtained that chrysophanol - l - O - triglucoside and chrysophanol - 1 - O - tetraglucoside had weak protective effect on liver cells injured by carbon tetrachloride at the concentration of 1mg/ml. It was also found that aloe emodin had similar anti hepatotoxic effect.
8. Purgative action Cassia seed has the effect of slow purgation. The purgative effect of the liquid extract reached its peak within 3-5 hours after oral administration. The soluble part of 50% ethanol was obtained from the decoction, and then the soluble part and water soluble part were obtained by using ethyl acetate and butyric acid in turn. The butanol part with the highest purgative activity was separated into several components with a dextran gel column, and the active components were hydrolyzed with acid to obtain the same chrysophanol, anthracone and d-glucose. After oral administration of these components, the condensation of nitrosodianiline and chrysophanol anthrone can be detected in the large intestine. However, for mice treated with chloramphenicol to inhibit intestinal bacterial proliferation, their purgative activity and anthrone production are reduced by half.
9. Effect on gastric juice secretion For dogs with gastric fistula, the cassia seed flow extract can promote gastric juice secretion when given on an empty stomach.
