Extract Source
Berberine hydrochloride is an isoquinoline alkaloid that exists in many plants from 4 families and 10 genera including the Berberidaceae family.
Berberine hydrochloride, also known as berberine hydrochloride, has long been used clinically as a heat-clearing, detoxifying and antibacterial drug. It is often used to treat diseases such as bacillary dysentery, acute gastroenteritis, chronic cholecystitis, conjunctivitis, and suppurative otitis media, all of which have significant effects.
Berberine can precipitate yellow needle-like crystals from ether. Berberine is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid, and the solubility of its salts in water is relatively small, for example, the hydrochloride is 1:500 and the sulfate is 1:30.
