Product Description

Product Profile
Lycium barbarum extract is an active ingredient extracted from the mature fruits of the Solanaceae plant Lyciumchi-nense Mill or Ningxia Lycium barbarum L., and contains wolfberry polysaccharide, carotenoids, fat, protein, free amino acids, taurine, betaine, and vitamin B1 , vitamin B2, vitamin E, vitamin C, etc., have the functions of regulating immunity, scavenging free radicals, lowering blood lipids, lowering blood sugar, inhibiting tumors, delaying aging, anti-stress, anti-fatty liver, effects on the hematopoietic system, estrogen-like effects, Anti-mutation and anti-fatigue effects

Pharmacological effects
1. Antioxidant and anti-aging effects
Lycium barbarum extract has antioxidant and anti-aging effects, can significantly inhibit the production of lipid peroxide (LPO) in mouse liver homogenate, and can increase the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) in the blood and the SOD of red blood cells. Increased activity; human trials have shown that it significantly inhibits serum LPO production and increases blood GSH-PX activity, but RBC-SOD activity does not increase. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide can effectively resist free radical peroxidation and reverse the electrical function of damaged membranes; it has the effect of regulating lipid metabolism. And it has a significant protective effect on liver lipid peroxidation damage in mice caused by CCl4. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide can also significantly shorten the development period of fruit flies from egg to pupa and egg to adult, and can significantly increase the average life span of mice and fruit flies. Wolfberry can increase the hydroxyproline content of mouse skin, significantly increase the mouse's ability to tolerate hypoxia, extend its swimming time, and resist fatigue.

2. Lipid-lowering, hypoglycemic, and hepatoprotective effects
Lycium barbarum water extract can lower cholesterol and protect liver function in rats and rabbits. Long-term (75d) feeding of feed containing wolfberry aqueous extract (0.5% and 1%) or betaine (0.1%) has a protective effect on liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride, and can inhibit serum levels caused by carbon tetrachloride. and changes in lipids in the liver, shortening the sleep time of sodium thiopental, reducing the retention of sodium tetrabromide (BSP), and reducing aspartate aminotransferase. For experimental hyperlipidemia in rabbits fed with high-fat feed, 10 ml of wolfberry per animal daily for 60 or 90 days can significantly prevent the increase in serum cholesterol and also reduce triglycerides. The water-extracted alcohol-precipitated extract of Ningxia wolfberry leaves also has the effect of lowering cholesterol. Ningxia wolfberry extract can significantly and permanently reduce blood sugar and improve glucose tolerance in rats. 30 elderly people over 60 years old took 100 mg of wolfberry extract daily for 4 and 8 weeks, and their blood cholesterol was significantly reduced, as well as β-lipoprotein and triglyceride.

3. Enhance immune function
Lycium barbarum water extract can enhance non-specific immunity and cellular immune function. Can significantly enhance the phagocytosis of macrophages. When the immunity is low, the immune-enhancing effect of wolfberry polysaccharide is more significant. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide selectively enhances the immune response mediated by T lymphocytes, especially thymic T cells. Applying wolfberry to immunosuppressed animals can significantly increase the number of TH cells, increase the TH/TS ratio, significantly increase the low level of IL-2, and enhance the expression of IL-2R on the surface of T cells. The mechanism by which Lycium barbarum polysaccharide enhances immune function may be partly achieved by regulating the mutual coordination of the functions of the hypothalamus, the sympathetic nerves of immune organs, and the adrenal cortex.

4. Anti-tumor effect
Lycium barbarum polysaccharide can enhance the activity of ConA-treated macrophages in normal mice to inhibit the proliferation of tumor target cells, and has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of target cells P815 and P388. It has a certain activation effect on macrophages in the process of non-specific anti-tumor or specific anti-tumor. Lycium barbarum polysaccharide can also increase the incorporation value (CPM) of 3H-TdR in spleen T lymphocytes of S180 tumor-bearing mice and improve the T lymphocyte proliferation response (RPI). Combined with cy, it can increase the tumor inhibition rate of cy. When wolfberry frozen powder suspension and cy were combined to treat Walktr carcinosarcoma 256 in rats, wolfberry polysaccharide had a significant protective effect on leukopenia caused by cy.

5. Estrogen-like effects
Mice whose bilateral ovaries had been completely removed were given 0.5 mL of 50% wolfberry water extract per mouse for 14 consecutive days. It was found that wolfberry had a significant uterine weight gain effect. Wolfberry and fruit stalk have a significant effect on promoting uterine weight gain in mature or immature normal mice; while wolfberry leaves have the opposite effect, causing significant uterine weight loss.

6. Effect on hematopoietic system
Normal mice were given 10% wolfberry water extract 0.5mL/kg daily for 10 days, which promoted their hematopoietic function and increased the number of white blood cells. After intraperitoneal injection of 10 mg/kg LBP for 3 consecutive days, the burst erythroid colony-forming units (BFU-E) and erythroid colony-forming units (CFU-E) in the mouse bone marrow increased to 342% and 192% of the control value, respectively. The proportion of blood reticulocytes increased to 218% of the control value on the 6th day. LBP injection can also promote the secretion of colony-stimulating factors by mouse spleen T lymphocytes and increase the level of colony-stimulating activity in mouse serum. In the in vitro proliferation system, LBP has no direct stimulating effect on myelomonocytic cells, but it can enhance the colony-stimulating activity of colony-stimulating factor (SE). 50 healthy people were intraperitoneally injected with 50g/d of wolfberry for 10 consecutive days. The white blood cell count after taking the medicine was 7143±2938, which was significantly different from the 6446±2811 before taking it. This shows that wolfberry can also significantly increase white blood cells in healthy people. effect.

7. Cholinomimetic effect
Intravenous injection of water extract of wolfberry can cause blood pressure to drop, respiratory excitement, heartbeat slowdown, and intestinal irritation in rabbits. Its active ingredients are ingredients other than betaine. 8. Other effects: Lycium barbarum water extract has cholinergic effects such as lowering blood pressure, inhibiting the heart, stimulating the intestines, etc. Betaine does not have this effect. Lycium barbarum water extract can accelerate the contraction frequency and increase the tension of rabbit uterus in vitro. In addition, wolfberry extract can significantly promote the growth and acid production of lactic acid bacteria.
