Corydalis Extract is a tuberous early flowering east Asian flowering plantspecies. Its exact native range is obscure due to taxonomic confusion. It is one of the sources of the drug tetrahydropalmatine.Corydalis extract contains a variety of alkaloids including corynoline, acetylcorynoline d-corydalin, dl-tetrahydropalmatine, protopine, tetrahydrocoptisine, dl-tetrahydrocoptisine, d-corybulbine and allo-crytopine. Chemical derivatives of tetrahydroprotoberberines present in Corydalis have been studied as potential ways to increase pain tolerance and for treating drug addiction.Further, they may represent a category of neurotransmitter stabilizers which have potential use in broad range of psychotic and neurological disorders.
1.Tetrahydropalmatine has the protective effect on liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride in mice.
2.Tetrahydropalmatine has analgesia and sedative-hypnotic activity, can depress the chtonic persistent pain and splanchna dull pain.
3.Tetrahydropalmatine has effect of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis and promoting circulation of qi to relieve pain.
4.Tetrahydropalmatine is often used for hypochondriac pain due to stagnation of the liver-qi, stomachache due to stagnation of the stomach-qi, hernial pain.
Applications:
1. Applied in health product field: THP possesses not only an analgesic effect, but also a hypnotic effect;
2. Applied in pharmaceutical field: It has a role as an adrenergic agent, a non-narcotic analgesic and a dopaminergic antagonist.
