Milk thistle extract is derived from the dried fruit of Silybum marianum G.

Milk thistle is an annual or biennial herb native to southern Europe and North Africa. It has been cultivated and used in Europe and Africa for thousands of years. It is a folk medicinal plant. The whole plant contains flavonoids and fumaric acid; the seeds contain silybin, isosilibinin, dehydrosilibinin, silydianin, silychristin, silybin Polymers and cinnamic acid, myristic acid, palmitoleic acid, arachidic acid, etc.
