Description
Sinomenine hydrochloride is a natural anti-inflammatory morphinan analog. Sinomenine hydrochloride causes degranulation of mast cells in mammalian tissues to release histamine and suppresses production of proinflammatory cytokines.

Sinomenine HCL also has significant analgesic, sedative, and antiinflammatory effects and lowers blood pressure.
Sinomenine has cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory activities and cancer chemopreventive property. It exhibits anti-glioma activity in vivo. Sinomenine is well tolerated by the recipient mice at therapeutic dose, and no significant cytotoxicity is accompanied.
