Scutellaria, Chinese medicine name. It is a perennial herb of Scutellaria baicalensis in the labiform family. Succulent rhizomes hypertrophy, leaves hard paper, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, racemes terminal on stem and branches, corolla purple, purplish red to blue, filaments flat, slender style, annular flower disc, ovary brown, nutty ovoid, fruit period 7 ~ 9 months. Scutellaria baicalensis grows on sunny grassy slopes at an altitude of 60 to 1300 (1700 to 2000) meters. Produced in Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Henan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong, Sichuan and other places, most provinces in northern China can be planted. Its root medicine, bitter taste, cold, has the effect of clearing heat and drying dampness, purging fire and detoxification, hemostasis, abortion and so on. It is used to treat diseases such as warm fever, upper respiratory tract infection, lung heat cough, moist heat jaundice, pneumonia, dysentery, hemoptysis, red eyes, restless fetus, hypertension, abscess, swelling and boils.
