Introduction
  Equisetum arvense, an herb whose use dates back at least to ancient Rome and Greece, was traditionally used to stop bleeding, treat ulcers and wounds, and treat tuberculosis and kidney disease. The name equisetum can be split into two Latin roots, equus, meaning "horse," and seta, meaning "mane." Today, fenugreek still has medicinal value. The plant's stems contain high amounts of silicone and silicic acid, which help repair broken bones and form collagen, an important protein found in connective tissue, skin, bones, cartilage and ligaments. It is also used to treat urinary tract infections, kidney and bladder stones, and as a topical treatment for burns and wounds.
