Description Cistanche tubulosa is a desert plant species in the genus Cistanche. It is not green in color, which shows that it is unable to synthesize chlorophyll. It is a rare and endangered species. The most preferred host for this parasite is Salvadorapersica. It is a widely distributed annual that produces a dense pyramid spike of bright yellow flowers topped by maroon-tinted buds.It obtains all its nutrients from the host plants. It's long been used in the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).This plant is grown in Taklamakan desert which is in southwest Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, northwest China.It's common name is Desert hyacinth and the botanical name is CistancheTubulosa and this plant belongs to Orobanchaceae family.
