Hypericum Perforatum Extract is an extract of the capsules, flowers, leaves and stem headsof the hypericum, Hypericum perforatum.
This plant is native to the temperate and subtropical regions of North America, Europe, Asia Minor, Russia, India, and China, but also could be found in hot temperate regions of Africa, particularly in sub-Saharan African countries such as Nigeria where it is known as "Afomo" among the Yoruba tribe (Southwest Nigeria).

The extract of this plant commonly is used in the treatment of depression, insomnia, exhaustion, somatoform disorders, nervousness, and convalescence; in addition to its uses as a remedy for skin diseases, superficial injury, mucosal lesions, and gastrointestinal illness.
