Types of Whey Protein Powder:
There are three main types of whey protein powder - concentrate, isolate, and hydrolysate. Each type differs in terms of processing methods and nutritional content.
1. Whey Protein Concentrate:
This type of whey protein powder undergoes minimal processing and contains around 70-80% protein, with the remaining percentage consisting of lactose (milk sugar), fat, and minerals. It also retains more nutrients such as beneficial peptides, immunoglobulins, and lactoferrin compared to other forms of whey protein powder.
2. Whey Protein Isolate:
Whey isolate goes through further processing to remove most of the fat and lactose content, resulting in a product that is about 90-95% pure protein. This makes it an ideal choice for those looking for a higher concentration of protein per serving with minimal carbohydrates or fats.
3. Whey Protein Hydrolysate:
Hydrolyzed whey protein undergoes additional processing steps where enzymes are used to break down larger proteins into smaller peptides or amino acids.
Application
1. Whey protein can be used to raise the yield of meat products, check condensation of tiny oil and water drops, prevent fat and water separation, improve the taste and structure, and make the end products have a higher nutritional value and a fine and wet texture with good slicing properties
2. Whey protein can be added to such solid drinks as oatmeal, coffee mate, soy milk powder peanut milk powder, cocoa milk powder, walnut milk powder, fermented yogurt, juice milk powder, etc. And dairy products so as to raise the protein content in the end products and increase their nutrition.
3. It can also be added to cold drinks (such as ice cream) to reduce the production costs.
