Artichoke (Cynara scolymus), also known as chrysanthemum, ball thistle, lily, French lily, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Compositae family and is an ancient medicinal plant. A literature search shows that artichoke is rich in a variety of nutrients and has health effects. It is known as the "King of Vegetables".
