Artichoke (Cynara scolymus), also known as chrysanthemum, ball thistle, lily, French lily, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Compositae family and is an ancient medicinal plant. A literature search shows that artichoke is rich in a variety of nutrients and has health effects. It is known as the "King of Vegetables". Its flower buds, fleshy receptacles, and tender bracts of the receptacles are all edible. It is a high-end vegetable best-selling in the international market.
