Product Profile
Motherwort extract is a brown active substance extracted from the fresh or dried aerial parts of the Lamiaceae plant Leonurus japonicus Houtt., in which stachydrine hydrochloride is the main active ingredient.

Effects on the cardiovascular system
1. Anti-atherosclerosis (AS) effect:
Motherwort mixture (composed of 1:1 motherwort and hawthorn) has the effect of controlling and removing lipid peroxide (LPO), increasing the activity of superoxide dismutase (SDO), whether in the blood, heart, or heart after administration. In brain tissue, LPO decreased significantly and SDO activity increased. Pathological sections of the coronary arteries showed that in the control group, the cells in the inner wall of the coronary arteries fell off, the elastic fibers were broken, missing, and damaged, the blood cells infiltrated, and the arteries were obviously diseased; while in the drug group, the cells in the inner wall of the arteries were intact and no lesions were found.
